Soybean oil-a very high cost-effective edible oil
1. Origin
China is the birthplace of soybeans. Its planting history has been more than 5,000 years ago. Soybeans were called "shu" in ancient times. Soybeans cultivated all over the world are spread directly or indirectly from China. They were first introduced to France before 1740. It was subsequently introduced to the United States, Austria, Hungary, Britain, Germany, Russia, Brazil and other countries. Soybean nouns in Latin and other foreign languages ??are all transliterations of the word "shu". The word soybean was first seen in "Shen Nong book", which is recorded in the book The growth process of soybeans.
2. Planting
Soybeans are widely distributed in China and are grown in all provinces. Generally, it is divided into three areas: the spring soybean cropping area in the north, the summer soybean cropping area in the Huanghuaihai Drainage Basin, and the soybean cropping area in the south. In 2012, the sown area of the three regions accounted for 51%, 32%, and 17% respectively.
3. Production and trade
According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, in 2019, China’s soybean production was 18.1 million tons, all of which were non-GMO soybeans, of which only 4.5 million tons were used for oil extraction and the rest for food. According to the National Economic and Social Development Statistical Bulletin 2019 "In 2019, China imported 88.51 million tons of soybeans, which is 4.9 times that of domestic soybeans. Except for a small part of non-GMO soybeans used in the food industry, most of them are genetically modified soybeans used in oil extraction and feed industries. The main reason for the high import volume is: in recent years, as China’s economy continues to develop rapidly and healthily, people’s income and living standards have been continuously improved, and people are gradually improving their dietary structure. The demand for products is increasing.
4. Nutritional value
Soybean oil contains palmitic acid 8.0~13.5%, stearic acid 2.0~5.4%, oleic acid 17.0~30.0%, linoleic acid 48.0~59.0, linoleic acid 4.2~11.0%, arachidic acid 0.1~0.6%. Soybean oil has a good fatty acid composition. The content of saturated fatty acids, monounsaturated fatty acids and polyunsaturated fatty acids is relatively balanced, and it contains essential fatty acids-linoleic acid and linolenic acid, especially rare is that it contains about 10% omega- 3 fatty acids-α-linolenic acid (except for rapeseed oil, the content of bulk edible oils is not high); soybean oil also contains a lot of vitamin E, plant sterols, and its high content is also one of the few in bulk vegetable oils , It is very beneficial to human health and is a kind of excellent edible oil with high nutritional value. On July 31, 2017, the US Food and Drug Administration approved the health claim that “soybean oil is beneficial to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease” was approved.
The fly in the ointment is that the retention of nutrients and the removal of peculiar smell are a contradiction, and the beany smell of soybean oil cannot be accepted by some consumers.
Generally speaking, soybean oil is not only a kind of edible oil with high nutritional price, but also cheap.
