China's soybean imports exceed 100 million tons in 2020
According to data from the General Administration of Customs, China purchased 103.3 million tons of soybeans in 2020, which is more than 88.51 million tons.
In December last year, China’s total imports were 7.524 million tons, a 27% drop from 9.54 million tons in the same period last year and 9.59 million tons in November.
Agricultural analysts said, "Soybean imports in December were lower than expected, probably due to delays in transportation." China is rebuilding the pig industry that was destroyed by African swine fever. It is expected that the demand in 2021 will remain high and will reach new highs.
A spokesman for the Chinese Customs said that China’s imports of soybeans from the United States in 2020 increased by 56.3% in yuan terms over the same period last year.
